VERNAL, Utah (AP) -- A Vernal judge who was charged with a class A misdemeanor for allegedly refusing to let Naples City police confront her son over a cab ride has been reinstated.
Utah Supreme Court Chief Justice Christine Durham reinstated Vernal City Justice Court Judge Cleopatra "Pat" McRae on Monday after learning the charge against her was dismissed last week.
McRae had been on paid administrative leave since Feb. 13. She was charged with misdemeanor obstructing justice for allegedly refusing to let police talk to her son about a cab ride he allegedly refused to pay for.
Defense attorney Rich Mauro says the charge against McRae was dropped after a charge against McRae's son was dismissed. Mauro says McRae's son gave the Vernal City Cab company owner $50 in January.
