John Daley ReportingWhile most campaigns were relatively civil this year, the race for Salt Lake County Sheriff had a lot of mudslinging late in the game. Tonight's results show newcomer Jim Winder winning the election.
Jim Winder, Democrat: "Real excited, but still cautious, wanna see how this thing plays out, but certainly optimistic."
Winder says a last -minute effort on Sheriff Kennards campaign to make Winder look bad through some video tapes, backfired.
Jim Winder: "I believe it did. I believe it had a favorable impact at the end of the day. I think people saw that for what it was and I think it had, at the end of the day, a kind of blowback effect."
