LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- Access to the Logan Library could soon be easier -- and cheaper -- for residents of unincorporated Cache County.

The Cache County Council has approved a reduced price library access card. Currently residents of the unincorporated county pay $163 per year for a Logan Library card. Under the new plan, a single card would cost just $75. The county would pay the library an additional $30 for each card purchased.

The Logan Municipal Council must also approve the proposal.

Under the proposal, the library cards would become available July 1. The program could be renegotiated between the city and the county after one year.

A similar proposal that would let county residents obtain a subsidized card for use at the Hyrum Library is also being considered.
