OGDEN -- A serial robber is headed to prison after hitting the several grocery stores in Ogden, several times last year.

Ogden police Lt. Tony Fox says, seven times in six weeks, Alfredo Castillo Alvarado, 40, went to several grocery stories, loaded up on beer and took off.

Albertsons, Wangsgards and Harmons were hit from late July into September.

Several times he was confronted, and he threatened to hurt employees. The last time, on Sept. 19, he wasn't so lucky.

"He was held there, and he punched one of the employees who held him there. I believe that's what led to the robbery offense, and that's when he was taken into custody," says Lt. Fox.

In a plea deal arranged in district court, Alvarado pleaded guilty to four of seven charges and was sentenced to up to five years in prison.

He also has to pay restitution to the stores for both the beer and stolen laundry detergent.

"Maybe he liked to have clean clothes. I'm being facetious here," Fox said.

This isn't Alvarado's first run in with the law. "He has 29 prior arrests: assault on police officers, DUI," Fox said.
