KSL Newsradio's Marc Giauque reportingImagine being able to drive between Alta, Brighton, and Park City resorts within minutes. It's one of several ideas that will be discussed in a meeting of political and transportation leaders next week. But one agency already has potential concerns.

"Tunnels do intercept water that would naturally flow to the canyon streams," says Salt Lake's Public Utilities Department Director LeRoy Hooten. "So by driving tunnels it may affect our drinking supply."

Hooten says tunnels generally end up diverting or changing water. He says as the man responsible for protecting water rights for the city, he also has concern about the impact the tunnels and development might have on the watershed.
