KSL Newsradio's Marc Giauque reportingSitting in traffic may be adding up to a lot of lost time and lost dollars. A transportation group is out with its list of the most congested routes in the state.

Five of the top ten routes are in Utah County. They include I-15, between American Fork and Provo, where these people drive every day.

"It can be a standstill for a half-hour to an hour at times," said one commuter.

"You could be waiting an hour to even get to work," another agreed.

"Sometimes it's pretty ugly," added another driver.

The worst offender, according to the study, was I-15 between 1600 North and University Parkway. The study estimated 76 hours and 59 gallons of fuel wasted in this area each year.

Ugly for the wallet as well. Washington-based TRIP researchers say it's costing drivers up to $1,200 in delays and extra fuel annually.

The timing of the report may not be a coincidence. Business and political leaders backing tax increases for transportation projects have scheduled a news conference with TRIP's executives.
