(KSL News) -- Police say a cement truck and SUV nearly hit each other head-on this afternoon in West Valley City.
The vehicles collided at 5600 West and 3100 South. The impact of the crash tipped the cement truck on its side, and crushed much of the SUV.
Officers believe the cement truck was going straight through the intersection and the SUV was trying to turn left, when it was hit.
A medical helicopter flew the SUV driver to a hospital in critical condition. The driver of the cement truck was not hurt.
The intersection has been partially closed while crews clean up the mess, and traffic is backed up in all directions.
