According to the ex-girlfriend, the man showed up drunk at her apartment near 400 East and 7200 South around 11:30 a.m. She says he beat her in front of her four children, then left.
Once he was gone, the woman was able to leave with her children and seek help at a nearby hospital.
Around noon, an officer spotted the man's car outside of the apartment. Police suspect he returned sometime after the woman left.
The man barricaded himself inside the apartment , but police were able to take him into custody just after 4:30 p.m.
