(KSL News) A 19-year-old woman has died following a head-on collision that sent her to the hospital in critical condition last night.

Kristy L. Bateman was driving south on Main Street in Centerville when a vehicle traveling north crossed the center line near the intersection with Lund Lane and collided with her vehicle.

It was originally believed that the driver of the northbound vehicle had been attempting a U-turn when the accident happened. However, police now say that is not the case.

Bateman had to be extricated from her vehicle and was flown to Intermountain Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead. Two passengers in her vehicle were also transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle, 32-year-old Jamie Beecher, and her two children, ages 5 and 1, were transported by ambulance to Ogden Regional medical center also with non-life-threatening injuries.

All persons involved were wearing seat belts. Police say they are continuing their investigation to determine what caused the accident.
