SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The Salt Lake County District Attorney has found a police officer was justified in shooting a man who had fired a gun into a crowd outside a nightclub.
Police say Hussein Al-Rekabi, 19, fired shots that grazed one man and hit a woman in the arm around 1 a.m. on Jan. 24.
The officer heard the shots and saw Al-Rekabi walking quickly away from the club. Police say the officer ordered Al-Rekabi to stop, but he got in a car and drove toward the officer, who fired six shots into the vehicle.
Al-Rekabi was hit in the torso and crashed the car into a utility pole and fire hydrant. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officer's name was not released.
