SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Mehdi Ballouchy's goal in the second half gave Real Salt Lake a 1-1 tie Saturday night against the Houston Dynamo.
Salt Lake remains two points behind the Colorado Rapids, who also earned a tie Saturday night. Salt Lake (10-18-8) will get into the playoffs only if it wins next week and the Rapids lose.
Houston (11-8-12) already has clinched a playoff spot.
Ballouchy entered the game in the 57th minute and scored three minutes later. Jeff Cunningham assisted on the goal, his 11th assist of the season.
Paul Dalglish scored first for Houston. Starting in place of forward Alejandro Moreno, he beat Salt Lake goalkeeper Scott Garlick on a low, skipping shot in the 20th minute. The goal was his first of the season.
Dynamo coach Dominic Kinnear rested Moreno and midfielder Dwayne De Rosario, although De Rosario entered the game as a substitute.
