(KSL News) A prison inmate accused of killing a guard while trying to escape is refusing to show up in court.
Curtis Allgier is charged with aggravated murder in the shooting death of corrections officer Stephen Anderson in 2007. Allgier was supposed to go to a hearing yesterday but wouldn't leave his cell because jail policy requires him to be transported wearing handcuffs.
Allgier claims he has a shoulder problem that gets irritated when he's handcuffed behind his back.
According to the Deseret News, his attorney now is trying to make other arrangements.
