An Ogden woman is in custody after a wild, intoxicated rampage in her car overnight.

It started around 3:30 a.m. Police say 42-year-old Jodi Hood in her 1998 Dodge Durango failed to turn left or right at the T-intersection of Eccles Avenue, and instead drove straight into a home at 1048 Vitt Drive.

"Going outside to see what occurred, [the residents] became involved in a verbal confrontation," says Lt. Scott Conley, with the Ogden Police Department.

As Hood backed out, officers say she hit and damaged a telephone pole.

Police say the residents of the home that was hit got in their car and started following Hood westbound. They called 911.

Officers finally caught up with Hood's SUV on Harrison Boulevard. It was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes. They tried to stop Hood, but she kept going, ultimately winding up on Washington Boulevard.

There, Conley says, Hood often drove in the opposite lanes of traffic. She jumped a curb near 1000 North and struck the temporary business sign. Near 1100 North, officers say Hood jumped another curb, then careened over some boulders and ended up in a fence outside the Papa John's at 1258 N. Washington Blvd.

Investigators say Hood was intoxicated but cooperative after her Durango came to a stop.

"The individual that will go to this point and endanger property and the citizens of the community definitely needs to be taken off the street," Conley said.
