(KSL News) Today marks a special milestone for one of Utah's oldest ski resorts. Alta Ski Resort celebrates its 70th birthday today.

The resort first opened January 15, 1939 with one of the first chair lifts in the nation. The cost for a lift ticket back then was $1.50 a day.

Since then, millions of skiers have found their way to Alta's slopes.
