(KSL News) A lawyer for the state of Utah says it is immune from liability in the death of an 11-year-old boy killed by a bear.
The family of Samuel Ives has brought a suit against the state, saying they should have been better warned a bear had been seen in the area where they were camping last year.
However, a lawyer for the state says the Governmental Immunity Act of Utah bars the suit since no explicit negligence occurred.
The Ives family has also filed a lawsuit against the federal government.
