The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will start public tours of the new Draper temple this week. Along with that comes more national media attention on the Church and how people perceive it.
On Friday, ABC's Nightline aired a segment on the Church that was over eight minutes long. In the piece, the reporter said the Church gave him rare access to dispel myths surrounding their faith.
The reporter also discussed polygamy, Mitt Romney, baptisms for the dead and other Church teachings and issues with Church leaders Elder M. Russell Ballard and Elder Quentin L. Cook.
Elder Ballard told the ABC reporter they were giving these interviews because they want to be understood, saying people are defining Latter-day Saints without having the facts.
