(KSL News) ARUP Blood Services says it is desperately seeking people to donate O- blood.

In a news release, the company says the shortage has been caused by a number of new trauma patients. "We have a critical need for blood donors to come in immediately," said ARUP Blood Services Vice President and Group Manager Karen Nielsen. "We need O- donors right now."

ARUP is the sole blood provider for the University of Utah Hospital, Huntsman Cancer Hospital, Primary Children's Medical Center, and Shriners Hospital for Children.

Donors can go to the University of Utah Research Park center at 500 Chipeta Way (Building 580) between the hours of 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. weekdays or 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the weekends.

ARUP has a second location in Murray at 5201 South Green Street, just off of the I-15 freeway and 5300 South exit. For more information, see the link on this page.
