BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (AP) -- A Davis County sheriff's deputy accused in the sexual abuse of 16-year-old girl is hoping to avoid a trial.
Thirty-two-year-old Matthew Allen waived his right to a preliminary hearing in anticipation of resolving the case before it goes to trial. He's charged with sexual battery and two counts of second-degree forcible sexual abuse.
Court documents say Allen touched the teenage babysitter under and over her clothing during a four-month period last year.
Allen has been placed on unpaid leave pending an internal investigation.
