LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON — A 23-year-old man was killed in a crash in Little Cottonwood Canyon early Tuesday.

About 3:20 a.m., the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office responded to report of a crash near the Seven Turns area, about seven miles up the canyon. A vehicle went off the road and down the steep embankment. It was not immediately known why the car left the road.

Two 23-year-old men were in the vehicle. One was killed and the other was not injured, according to sheriff's office. Additional information about the deceased man has not yet been released.

"This is still an active ongoing investigation. No further details are available at this time," the sheriff's office said.

The road through the canyon was restricted to one lane for several hours Tuesday morning as the crash was investigated.
