LOGAN — With the leaves turning in Logan Canyon, Dan and Lindsey Duffield are visiting the area from Texas, in part to see the vivid sights.

The other piece of Lindsey Duffield's motivation for coming to Utah, however, has to do with the Bear 100 Endurance Race this weekend, which will take her from Logan to Fish Haven, Idaho.

"The whole hundred miles is completely inspired because I can't wait to see what's around the next turn, what's over the next ridge," Lindsey Duffield said.

Dan Duffield added, "I grew up in the Midwest, where we've got a lot of maples and stuff like that. So this is kind of like coming back to home, seeing the colors."

The Cache Valley Visitors Bureau is hopeful that, like the Duffields, more people will see the area as a fall destination. Director Julie Hollist Terrill believes a series of festivals through Oct. 21 could help, along with the changing colors in both Logan and Sardine canyons.

"That's such an integral part of our fall offerings, is nature's beauty," she said. "And it's funny because we've had people in the office from Wisconsin and Connecticut and Vermont this last week, and they're out here to see the colors."

Among the fall-centered events is Logan's Center Street Giant Pumpkin Festival, starting this Saturday, Sept. 27, at 11 a.m.

The American West Heritage Center's Fall Festival will take place on Oct. 10-11.

The North Logan Pumpkin Walk takes place on Oct. 16-18 and 20-21.
