SALT LAKE CITY — The motorcyclist who died after colliding with a pickup truck at 1700 South and State Street on Saturday has been identified as 24-year-old Steven Blanco Corella.
The specific cause of the crash is still under investigation, Salt Lake police said on Tuesday.
Dispatchers received a call at 6:14 p.m. Saturday about a "traffic crash." When paramedics arrived, police said Corella was "unconscious and not breathing" and CPR was administered. Paramedics then took him to the hospital, where he later died.
Salt Lake police said Corella was traveling south and the pickup truck was turning left from State Street to westbound 1700 South when the collision occurred.
State Street was shut down while police investigated, with westbound traffic on 1700 South being diverted to northbound State Street and southbound traffic on State Street being diverted to Kensington Avenue.
Police said this is the second traffic-related fatality in Salt Lake City this year.
