ST. GEORGE — A St. George man suspected of murdering his wife recently appeared in 5th District Court for a preliminary hearing, where additional details of what transpired and autopsy results were outlined before the judge.
The defendant, Eric Larson Sampson, 50, faces first-degree murder and other charges related to an incident reported on the evening of Sept. 1.
Upon receiving a call that a woman was found unconscious and not breathing, officers were dispatched to a residence on the 2800 block of South 2350 East in St. George.
Police found Eric Sampson's wife, Niki A. Sampson, 47, bruised and lifeless on a bed in the home, while the 911 caller performed chest compressions, according to a police report filed in support of the arrest. Police say the woman felt cold to the touch and had no detectable pulse.
