OGDEN — A 76-year-old man has died after crashed his electric scooter while avoiding being hit by a vehicle on Thursday.

He was taken to a hospital with severe head trauma and was not expected to survive, police said Thursday.

On Friday, they announced he had died.

The man was riding north on a personal electric scooter on Washington Boulevard near 22nd Street about 1:15 p.m. when a northbound SUV driver, a 33-year-old woman, merged over to make a right turn onto 22nd Street and failed to see the man on the scooter, Ogden police said in a statement.

The man took "evasive action" from the car almost hitting him, causing him to crash.

His identity has not yet been released.
