PLEASANT VIEW – A former Ogden School District employee is facing felony charges after police say a video circulated of her in a sexual encounter with a 16-year-old student.
America Karina Rubio, 21, who was a staff assistant at Ben Lomond High School at the time of the incident, is charged with forcible sodomy, a first-degree felony, forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony.
Rubio and the underage student began to message each other on Instagram, and in December last year, the student asked Rubio to come to his friend's house. During an interview March 11, Pleasant View police say Rubio told investigators "she hesitated at first," but ended up going to the house, where she sexually abused the student, according to charging documents.
The student's friend, who was at the house that day, told police he had seen a video of the encounter. Police say they were able to obtain that footage as evidence.
The Ogden School District released a statement saying Rubio "did not work directly with the student involved as part of (her) regular job duties," and she was put on administrative leave when allegations were brought forward. Rubio was officially fired March 4, and was booked into Weber County Jail on Monday.
