LITTLE COTTONWOOD CANYON — A man died Sunday afternoon after hitting a tree while skiing at Alta Ski Area.
Alta ski patrol responded to the 19-year-old man's collision at noon at the "Nina's area" of Alta, said Mike Morey, Alta town marshal.
Ski patrol initiated life-saving measures, and a helicopter took him to the hospital, Morey said. The man, whose name was not released, died.
Morey said initial information indicated no other skiers were involved.
