Press ReleaseSALT LAKE CITY—Utah head basketball coach Jim Boylen has suspended starting junior guard Luka Drca for two games in response to his tripping foul against Oklahoma. Drca was called for an intentional foul. Boylen's action was not mandated by the league.
"Luka is remorseful for his actions, but I feel that suspending him is the only thing to do," said Boylen. "His behavior was unacceptable and does not represent what our program is about."
Drca will sit out Utah's home game against Weber State this Saturday and a game at Utah State on Monday, Dec. 22.
Drca's suspension comes after he had just returned to the lineup from an ankle injury that caused him to miss the game against California on Dec. 10. He has played in eight games, starting seven, and is second on the team in assists (29) and steals (10).
