PLETTENBERG BAY, South Africa — Watch out, Taylor Swift.

A Middle Eastern cat backed by a South African music producer tapping the assistance of a guitarist is gaining social media traction crooning a flamenco melody called "Please Go Away." David Scott, the South African musician behind the production, built off a video of a cranky gray cat growling, ears laid back, adding keyboards, vocals and more.

"As a Spaniard, I give my Flamenco seal of approval," wrote one commenter. "Phenomenal meaowsterpiece."

Another wondered how other biggies of the music world might do with the song, which also features a backup vocalist and trumpet, played by Scott, also known as The Kiffness. "I wonder how Queen, Bowie, George Michael, Frank Sinatra or even The Lawrence Welk orchestra would have done a remake of this. :) Bless the kitty cat who made this all possible."

The cat is from somewhere in the Middle East but no other details are listed. The feline looks at the camera, clearly piqued by something, and his growl, played on a loop, serves as the hook for the song. Scott adds keyboards, castanets and trumpet and a backup vocalist also makes an appearance. A split screen shows the cat and other musicians performing the song.

"I don't know where to run/ I don't know where to hide/ So I don't stay, lugalugaluga/ I run away, lugalugaluga," sings Scott.

Scott's is hardly the only video to tap the sounds and sensibilities of cats. There's the video of the cat saying, "Well hi," in a sing-songy southern accent, among many others. Scott's video, though, clearly shows the musical potential packed within our feline friends.
