THE BARKING LOT — I recently watched a viral video featuring some kids who built a toy train track that went up and over their sleeping cat.
You see, the cat had come over and plopped down on the carpet right where they were playing. So, the resourceful kids just continued assembling their track and used the cat as an obstacle to build a bridge over.
Scenes like this played out hundreds of times at my house when I was young. We'd be playing the board game Sorry, and our cat would just saunter over and lie down in the middle of the board; or we'd be building with blocks, and the cat would find the most intrusive and uncomfortable spot to take snooze.
I'm not sure why cats do it, but they have mastered the art of demanding attention while pretending it's the last thing they want.
Which brings me to the dog in this video. I'll bet that he never interrupts the kids' playtime at home. He's too busy outside, living his best life.
This skateboarding pooch lives in Vegas and is taking "a leisurely cruise on his favorite skateboard across the length of a Las Vegas department store parking lot," explains the caption.
Wow. Walter is seriously impressive. I wish he'd been around when I was younger to inspire my cats to do more with their lives.
