SOUTH JORDAN — After deliberating for about five hours, a jury has found Anthony Dominic Rendon guilty of fatally shooting another man during a house party in South Jordan in 2021.

Rendon, 20, of West Jordan, was convicted of murder, a first-degree felony, and 11 counts of discharge of a firearm, a third-degree felony. In addition, a jury unanimously concluded that Rendon did not act in self-defense when he shot and killed 19-year-old Kelly Glaubensklee.

On June 6, 2021, about 2 a.m., there was a confrontation between two groups outside a house at 1472 W. 11400 South, where a party had been held. Rendon and his friends had been in a fight with the other group inside the house.

As Rendon and his friends were driving away, other party attendees began kicking the vehicle as it slowed to pick up a friend. Not long after, Rendon started shooting from the rear driver's side seat, firing 13 rounds in just a few seconds, aiming in the direction of several bystanders, according to charging documents. Glaubensklee, who police say had been involved in the initial fight with the teen driving the car, was hit and died at the scene.

The teen driver was also arrested.

A jury began deliberating the case just after 4 p.m. Tuesday. They returned with their verdict just after 9 p.m. Rendon is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 6.

"We hope this conviction helps Mr. Glaubensklee's friends and family begin the healing process for the loss of their loved one. Mr. Rendon knowingly created a grave risk for every individual near the car when he decided to fire several shots in a matter of seconds. The jury made the right decision when they chose to hold Mr. Rendon accountable for his extraordinary disregard for community safety," Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill said in a prepared statement on Wednesday.
