SOUTH JORDAN — South Jordan police have arrested one person in connection with a drive-by shooting at a graduation party over the weekend that killed a man.
The search continued Monday for three others, including the shooter, who was also believed to be in the car.
About 2 a.m. Sunday, two groups got into a fight while attending a graduation party in the area of 1450 W. 11400 South. Many of the party attendees were believed to be graduates of Jordan High School, according to South Jordan police. It was unknown Monday how the fight started.
"The fight was broken up and while leaving the scene, the suspect(s) fired 13 rounds towards Kelly and the group in front of the home, hitting Kelly in the chest," police said in a prepared statement Monday.
Kelly Glaubensklee, 19, later died at a local hospital.
Police have identified four suspects in the shooting. Detectives stated Monday that a 17-year-old boy had been arrested and the vehicle believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered.
"Detectives are still looking for the other three people in the vehicle, including the shooter," according to police.
A GoFundMe* page was set up for Glaubensklee.
"Kelly was one of a kind. He walked this Earth with his head held high and a smile that could fix just about anything. He was big and tough but as soon as he grinned you could see that he had the sweetest heart," according to the fundraiser. "If he saw someone needed help, he was there — especially in school with the kids that didn't stand up for themselves. The way he treated the people he loved always helped me remember there are still genuinely GOOD people in this world."
According to at least one post on social media from a person who identified himself as a relative, Glaubensklee was protecting another girl at the party when the shots were fired.
"He was a great kid. Totally lost for words," the post states.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call South Jordan police at 801-840-4000.
