SOUTH JORDAN — The alleged gunman in the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man at a party in South Jordan over the weekend has been arrested.
Anthony Dominic Rendon, 18, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail early Tuesday for investigation of aggravated murder and a dozen counts of shooting at someone.
He is accused of shooting and killing Kelly Glaubensklee, 19, during a confrontation between two groups.
About 2 a.m. Sunday, several people were attending a party at 1472 W. 11400 South. Many of the party attendees were believed to be recent graduates of Jordan High School, according to police, and the party was originally described as a graduation party.
But according to a police affidavit, several other people found out about the party via Snapchat and from other social media apps and, by the end of the night, "many of the individuals at the party were unknown to each other."
At some point, there was a fight between two groups with punches thrown. A girl was punched by an unknown male suspect, according to police. The same two groups then got into a second altercation.
Four people got into a car and started to leave when others "surrounded the vehicle and started kicking the vehicle as it was driving off," the affidavit states. The vehicle stopped after being surrounded. Moments later, Rendon leaned out the back seat window on the driver's side, pointed a gun at the other group and fired 13 rounds, according to the affidavit.
Glaubensklee, who had been involved in a fight with the driver of the vehicle, was shot once in the chest.
Several people recorded video of the car just prior to the shooting and helped police identify all four suspects inside the car, according to police.
By Monday morning, South Jordan police announced they had arrested the 17-year-old boy believed to be driving the car and had also seized the vehicle he was driving.
Monday evening, detectives contacted Rendon's father looking for his son. About 15 minutes after calling the father, Anthony Rendon called police back.
"Anthony's father advised after the initial phone call he asked Anthony why the police were looking for him. Anthony didn't provide him any information, however, Anthony later turned over a .40 caliber handgun to his father," the affidavit says.
A search warrant was served on Rendon's residence where "detectives located two different types of silver hollow-point bullets in his bedroom," including those that matched with shell casings recovered at the scene of the shooting, according to the affidavit. Two handguns were also seized from the home.
"Anthony is believed to have gang ties, as he was seen in a video with several individuals flashing gang signs. Anthony displayed an indifference for human lives when he discharged a firearm at a crowd of persons," police wrote in the report.
As of Tuesday morning, police were still looking for two other passengers in the car.
A GoFundMe* page was set up for Glaubensklee to help with funeral expenses.
