DELTA — A 12-year-old boy was injured Tuesday afternoon when he was hit by a car in Delta.

The Utah Highway Patrol said several children were attempting to cross Main Street near 1150 East at 2:55 p.m. A car was traveling east on Main Street and one child made it across the street, but the second, a 12-year-old boy, was hit by the vehicle.

UHP Sgt. Cameron Roden said the child suffered "serious" injuries and was unconscious when troopers arrived. He was transported by helicopter to a hospital.
