AROUND THE SHIELD — Andy Reid was already a beloved figure in one NFL city when the all-time winningest coach of the Philadelphia Eagles in the regular season before he was released by the organization in 2012.
Big Red did it again Sunday afternoon.
The former BYU offensive lineman and graduate assistant set a franchise record for most wins in the regular season with the Kansas City Chiefs' 31-17 victory Sunday over the Las Vegas Raiders, becoming the first coach in league history to hold such a record with two teams.
In Philadelphia, Reid won 140 games in 14 seasons from 1999-2012, including 130 regular-season games. Sunday marked his 137th win with the Chiefs, including 125 regular-season wins since 2013, breaking Hank Stram's franchise record.
But the Chiefs may be "just scratching the surface," quarterback Patrick Mahomes said after taking just their second win in four games.
"It was a good day," Mahomes said. "I still think we can be better. There were plays here and there that we didn't execute at a high enough level. But we're going to go to Green Bay in a great environment against a team that is playing really well right now, and it will be another challenge for us to build on."

After winning his third Super Bowl title a year ago, Reid became just the third coach in NFL history to beat his former team in the Super Bowl.
He now ranks fourth all-time among NFL head coaches with 277 career victories, and his 22 career postseason victories trails only Bill Belichick.
But Reid, 65, isn't showing any signs of slowing down after Mahomes threw for 298 yards and two touchdowns, and Isiah Pacheco ran for two scores to rally the Chiefs from a 14-0 deficit to win their eighth win of the season and a three-game lead atop the AFC West.
"Defensively, our guys just put the hammer down when needed," Reid said. "Started off a little bit slow, but then they just started making plays and working on the fundamentals."
