WEST JORDAN — A West Jordan man is accused of taking voyeuristic photos of young girls and filing them in an app on his phone designed to look like a calculator.

Hollis Levi Hebdon, 43, was charged Tuesday in 3rd District Court with four counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, a first-degree felony; and voyeurism committed against a child, a third-degree felony.

In July, a girl under the age of 10, told police she was at a swimming pool and took a bath at Hebdon's home afterward, to clean off, according to charging documents. While in the bathtub, the girl saw a hand holding a cellphone "and then she saw a flash and knew that a picture had been taken," the charges state.

After she got out, Hebdon appeared, allegedly to check on her. Moments later, the girl saw the cellphone flash go off again, according to the charges.

"Stop taking pictures of me, I've seen you do it twice now," the girl allegedly told him.

When police questioned Hebdon, he said, "there may be two to three videos" and that "he has a secret app on his phone that looks like a calculator where he stores his porn and that is where the videos would also be located," the charges state.

On Oct. 9, when detectives received the passcode for his phone and were able to examine the app, they found a sexually explicit video allegedly taken in his home of a second young girl, in addition to videos of the first girl, as well as "several deleted photos and videos of adult women, some appearing to have been taken in secret," charging documents state. Prosecutors say the identity of the second girl has not been confirmed.

"Also, on the app were very clear photos of children at the pool. When questioned why he thought he was being interviewed by police, the defendant stated that he thought it had to do with rape allegations," according to the charges

Prosecutors requested Hebdon be held at the Salt Lake County Jail pending trial.
