(KSL News) Some Utah Jazz players visited our KSL studio today to announce their initiative to "assist" Utah communities this holiday season.
Andrei and Masha Kirilenko, and the Kirilenko's Kids Foundation teamed up with other Jazz players to raise $30,000 to start the initiative. Additional community partners include KSL 5 TV, Zions Bank and Simmons Media.
The money will go to the United Way, the Road Home, the Utah Food Bank and other local charities.
The Jazz's Deron Williams said, "People are hungry all over the world and here in Salt Lake. So I thought it was a great cause, great charities."
Bruce Reese, president and CEO of Bonneville International, said, "We are so grateful to be a part of this. It's really wonderful to have the Jazz and the players step up and participate in this."
The group is encouraging Utah businesses and individuals to get involved in making a difference, as well.
