Pleasant Grove stays undefeated with 24-19 defensive win over Lone Peak
The Pleasant Grove Vikings made the final defensive stand in a bitter battle with the Lone Peak Knights to hold on for a 24-19 win and move to 6-0 on the season.Why did we choose this game?
After five weeks of action, league play finally begins for a highly-competitive Region 3. While American Fork-Lehi features two undefeated teams looking for supremacy, we wanted to spread the wealth around and visit Pleasant Grove, where the Vikings are looking to maintain its undefeated season against a visiting Lone Peak team.
The Knights only have two wins to their name this season, but don't sleep on Lone Peak to play the upset role in this game. Sure, they're not as consistent as in years past, but get the right Knights team on the field and they can go toe-to-toe with some of the best.
Standing in Lone Peak's way of an upset is Pleasant Grove dual-threat quarterback Carson Rasmussen, who last week accounted for four touchdowns, three of which came as runs, to beat West Jordan. The Vikings are only allowing 11.2 points per game this season — the best in Region 3 — while putting up 33.4 points.
Lone Peak will have to play nearly flawless football to get the road win, but anything is possible in region play.
