SANDY — A search of a shed in Sandy resulted in a large drug bust on Thursday.
The Salt Lake County Metro Narcotics Task Force served a federal search warrant at 112 Loyal Avenue (8900 South) and found a man near a shed that was about to be searched.
"While in handcuffs (the man) attempted to stomp on his phones to destroy the evidence located therein," a police booking affidavit states.
Police stepped in to stop the man from destroying evidence, but he continued to resist his arrest, the affidavit states. In the shed, "approximately 20 pounds of crystal methamphetamine" was found along with a "large" amount of cash and a loaded handgun, according to police.
Mauricio Robles-Parra, 23, who police say is in the country illegally, was arrested for investigation of drug possession with intent to distribute, possession of a gun by a restricted person, evidence tampering and interfering with an arrest.
