NO FURTHER COMMENT — Elly De La Cruz's Cincinnati Reds were in the midst of a series for the top of the NL Central. In the process, though, he took part in a much more entertaining — and, dare we say, more important — matchup: De La Cruz vs. the Brewers' scoreboard crew.
On Monday, the Reds shortstop led off the game with a deep drive to center field that would have been a home run if not for Milwaukee's Joey Wiemer's jumping catch.
So the next time De La Cruz got up to bat, whoever was manning the scoreboard had a bit of fun. Under the player trivia section, it read: "Almost hit a home run in the first inning ... but didn't."
Shots fired.
So De La Cruz fired one right back, smashing a 456-foot homer.

Unfortunately, the tape-measuring shot wasn't in direct response to the trolling. Through an interpreter, De La Cruz said "No. No, I haven't heard yet. Interesting."
The scoreboard crew kept things interesting the next night, too.
After the light-hearted ribbing tremendously backfired, they chose not to poke the bear anymore.
When De La Cruz came up for his second plate appearance, the scoreboard read: "The scoreboard crew has no further comment at this time."
Excellent work by the Brewers.
