ST. GEORGE — Hundreds of Washington residents gathered at Sullivan Park Wednesday night for a candlelight vigil to remember the life of Ace Butterfus.
The 7-year-old died tragically after a three-car hit-and-run collision at the intersection of 200 South and 100 East in Washington on the evening of June 30.
A suspect, later identified as 46-year-old Tracy Sandoval from St. George, was arrested a short distance away from the intersection and was charged with multiple felonies, including a second-degree felony count of negligently operating a motor vehicle resulting in death.
The vigil Wednesday night was not so much about the details of the tragedy but focused more on healing and rallying the community together behind Ace's parents — father Westley Butterfus and mother Briana Ramirez.
