EDEN, Weber County — A mudslide hit and damaged a home in Eden, in Weber County, on Wednesday. The family was evacuated before the mudslide happened, and no one was hurt.

The mudslide occurred at 2600 N. Viking Dr. in the Nordic Valley area, Weber County officials said.

A large amount of water pouring down the mountain is continuing to cause mudslides in the area. The Weber Fire District is working with the Weber County engineer to divert the water, hopefully lessening the pressure that is causing the mudslides.

Weber Fire District Deputy Chief David Reed explained that the home wasn't quite at the level of damage as the Draper homes that recently collapsed. It hasn't slid off of its foundation yet and as of late Wednesday had not sustained any structural damage.

"We're keeping a close eye on all the structures around there," Reed said. He added that crews will be responding to the mudslide until the situation is under control and will evacuate nearby homes as needed.
