LOS ANGELES — A dog stole the show, and the ball, at a spring training game between the L.A. Dodgers and the Kansas City Royals in Los Angeles on Saturday.

At bat was Dodgers prospect Michael Busch, CNN reported. The L.A. hopeful sent the ball flying over the fence just left of center field.

The home-run ball came soaring into a crowd sitting on the grass. Despite multiple spectators reaching for the ball, no one caught the ball.

One jersey-laden fan even leaped over someone else to get the ball.

That was when this dog had its day.

Surely, after many training sessions of its own, the dog knew what do and did it quickly.

After the ball hit the ground and made a healthy bounce into the air, the dog appears to take the ball before anyone else could get to it. The dog eventually resigned custody of the souvenir to its owner.

The paw-some video can be seen online at ESPN.com.

Opening day for Major League Baseball is Thursday. All 30 teams are scheduled to play on opening day.
