KAYSVILLE — A semitruck collided with a car and pinned it against a barrier on northbound I-15 Monday afternoon.
The driver of the car was initially trapped in the car and had to be extracted but did not appear to have any major injuries, according to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden.
The collision occurred at 1:20 p.m., according to a dashcam video taken of the crash, when the driver of the semitruck switched lanes and didn't see a car next to him, Roden said. The semitruck was hauling a dump trailer, which rolled on its side, blocking the northbound HOV lane.
"That was a pretty serious crash, when you look at the amount of damage and just the dynamics of that crash of her getting pinned up against that wall and spinning around and getting hit again. There's just so much going on and her to be able to walk away from that without any serious injuries is, you know, very good that we can end it that way. And not something more tragic," Roden said.
An investigation is ongoing. It is illegal for large semitrucks to be in the far left lane on I-15.
