DUCK CREEK VILLAGE, Kane County — A 7-year-old child died due to injuries from a crash on state Route 14 in Kane County on Friday, the Utah Department of Public Safety said.
On Friday at about 6:10 p.m. a 2008 GMC pickup was traveling west when, officers said, the pickup drifted into the center lane and clipped the trailer of a Ford F-350 traveling east. The pickup then crashed into an eastbound Kia Soul, the department says.
The occupants of the Kia were a mother and two children, the department says. The two children were both buckled in the back seat. One of the children, the 7-year-old, was badly injured after hitting the back of the passenger seat and was taken to a hospital, where the child died. The other child and the mother were also taken to the hospital, according to the department. No further information has been released about the identities of those involved in the crash.
The driver of the GMC pickup was taken to the hospital by a medical helicopter.
The crash is still under investigation, according to the Department of Public Safety.
