WEST JORDAN — A woman who police say was invited into her family's house for dinner and then stabbed a man in the neck now faces criminal charges.
Erin Kamille Geisler, 38, of West Jordan, was charged Friday in 3rd District Court with aggravated assault resulting in serious injury, a second-degree felony; three counts of domestic violence in the presence of children, a third-degree felony; drug possession, a class A misdemeanor; and, possession of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor.
On July 18, Geisler showed up to her mother's house unannounced and was invited inside for dinner, according to charging documents.
After dinner, the mother's husband offered to give Geisler a ride to wherever she needed to go. While cleaning out his truck, "Geisler came up behind him and stabbed him in the back of the neck. (He) flipped around, causing his arm to be cut. (He) was taken to the hospital for treatment. The stab wound in his neck cut through muscle and barely missed an artery/vein," the charges state.
Police later recovered surveillance video of the incident that "showed Geisler approach (the victim) from behind and move an object in a downward motion toward his back," according to the charges.
Three children were also present when the stabbing occurred.
"Prior to stabbing the victim, (Geisler) stated to one of the children on scene, 'I'll protect you from grandpa,' before walking outside," the charges state.
Before knocking on her mother's door, police learned that Geisler had asked a neighbor if her parents were home. The neighbor then saw Geisler "remove a knife from her purse, wipe it on her dress and then put it back in the purse," the charges state.
Drugs and drug paraphernalia were found in the Geisler's purse, the charges state. Her family told police that Geisler also suffers from mental health issues, according to charging documents.
