VIRGIN, Washington County — A fire east of Virgin in Washington County has burned an estimated 350 acres and is now 30% contained, officials said Friday afternoon.

The fire was ignited following a rollover crash Thursday night on state Route 9 on Dalton Road, according to Utah Fire Info. The fire spread under high wind conditions at a time when much of the state is under a prolonged drought and had been estimated at 300 to 500 acres on Thursday.

Officials estimated the fire as large as 600 acres on Friday morning with 0% containment before using aerial resources to better map the fire's perimeter.

Dalton Walsh Road is still closed while crews work, officials said.
