SPOOKYVILLE — It may not be a chain saw that accompanies a horror film villain in a dystopian world, but it still could send a shiver down your spine.
The playing of the national anthem before a sporting event has become routine and expected. There's been some incredible performances of the Star-Spangled Banner — Whitney Houston is credited with one of the best of all time — and then there's been some flops.
But what about using a hand saw?
Caroline McCaskey is a musical saw champion — yes, that's a thing — and was asked to perform the national anthem before an Oakland Athletics game before the dozens of fans in attendance.
What comes next is a perfect rendition of the national anthem, but one of the creepiest versions you'll likely ever hear. McCaskey's talent is spot on, but it feels like it should be reserved for some horror flick. Maybe it's played as the villain takes over as president of the United States and chaos ensues.
Don't rule it out!
I'm both impressed by the ability to play a hand saw and also a bit creeped out by the sound it makes.
Willing to bet you've never seen someone play the national anthem with a saw before 🪚#MLB#DrumTogether#MLBEuropepic.twitter.com/X8zKWU6UgR
