MORGAN — Troopers have reopened I-84 in Morgan County after a semitruck crash spilled potatoes across the road.
Eastbound I-84 closed two miles east of Morgan for several hours Thursday morning. After warning the road could stay closed until 3 p.m., transportation officials announced it was cleared and reopened about 12:30 p.m.
Officials said they used "snow plows as potato plows" to clear the boxed vegetables from the freeway.
"Plan travel, expect delays and use an alternate route if possible," officials said.
The crash occurred when the semitruck rolled in a construction zone, blocking all eastbound lanes, said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden. The driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, Roden said.
Traffic remained backed up for several miles after the crash as drivers were unable to exit the freeway.
