UHP investigating auto-pedestrian crash in Magna

MAGNA — A man who works for a traffic control business was critically injured Monday morning who while setting up traffic cones on state Route 201 when the driver of a pickup truck lost control of his vehicle.

A Ford Ranger was headed east on S.R. 201 about 8 a.m. As the truck came up on stopped traffic near 8000 West, the driver lost control of his vehicle, which crossed the median into the westbound lanes and hit a man who was setting up traffic cones, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

The westbound lanes of S.R. 201 were shut down for about 3 1/2 hours while the Utah Highway Patrol investigated the incident. They were reopened about 11:40 a.m.

Troopers say the man, whose name was not immediately released, was working on a project related to a new gas station being built in the area, when he was hit.
