ST. GEORGE — St. George police are investigating a suspicious death.

On Wednesday, about 8:30 a.m., a man went to the St. George Police Department to report a "possibly deceased female," according to a prepared statement from police. Officers went to the woman's residence to conduct a welfare check and found her deceased.

Police have not released the identity of the woman or how the woman may have died.

St. George police originally stated in their press release that they were investigating a homicide. But about 30-minutes later issued an updated press release stating they were investigating a "suspicious death." The man who reported the incident "has been taken into custody," police stated, though they have not said what charges the man was being held on.

The vehicle the man drove to the police station was being processed by detectives, police stated.
