FLIP-A-DELPHIA — All my life, I have desperately wanted to be a great tumbler.
As a kid, I always wanted to take tumbling classes. What is cooler than learning how to do flips and the like? My problem was at age 9, I was already too big to be a tumbler, or at least that's what I was told. I guess 120 pounds as a third-grader can make people feel that way.
I never gave up, however. I tried to backflip on my trampoline and my friend's trampoline for years. I can't tell you how many times I landed on my head, because I can't remember. I then tried multiple times in a pool only to land on my back, time after time.
I first successfully landed a backflip when I was 22, in Hawaii, when about six guys threw me up in the air on a beach. I knew I either land this or die. I guess the fear of facing the unknown was all I needed to pull it off.
I bring this up because my old body still wants to be an acrobat, and this video reminded me why.
I don't need to explain much here, because the awesomeness of the video speaks for itself as three dudes jump and flip through a hula hoop. The precision and athleticism is perfection. After watching it a thousand times, it's still fantastic.
Check out the video, and I'm going to go try to do some backflips on the trampoline in the yard. If you don't see a "Have You Seen This?" from me next week, you can safely assume my attempts did not go well. Wish me luck.
